About the Artist


Sharon Stewart (nicknamed TT, by her family, and Caster from her maiden name of Lancaster) began creating animal portraits as gifts.  Each Christmas, birthday and anniversary brought either a portrait or special card for friends and family.  This continues today.

Sharon studied for a year with North Light Art School in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She has also studied under artists Judi Betts,AWS, Joe Fattingis, Jack Reid, Richard Stewart, Heidi Berger, Kathy Rath, Joy Orzy, CSPWC.SCA,Linda Kemp, Ed Shawcross, Anthony Batton, Barry Richmond, Tom Lynch, Ariel Lyons, Jim Markle and Michelle Hauer.  Fall painting trip to Tuscany in 2001, Greece in 2002 and France in 2006 with mentor Ariel Lyons of Sarnia, who is a member of Watercolourist's Society of Canada. 

She works from a studio in her home, which is located in a friendly farming town in south-western Ontario, Canada, and is skillfully assisted by her beloved friends Jake and Libby, two Cairn Terriers.  Sharon is Past President of SAW (Sarnia Artist's Workshop) of Sarnia, a member of PAC (Pastel Artists.Ca), a member of Six Plus One Art Group in Sarnia, a member of The Lawrence House, Sarnia and Gallery in the Grove, Sarnia.  

Six bird sketches were published in "Birds of Elgin County - A Century of Change" compiled and written by Naturalists of Elgin County one of whom was her late father, naturalist Harold Lancaster.

Acrylic painting "Early Morning Friends" was one of 130 works juried in the 7th annual Paint the Huron Shores Show in the Spring 2004.  Watercolour painting "Poppies" was one of 67 works juried in the Gallery in the Grove show June 2004.  "The Boss" watercolour on yupo paper was one of 54 juried into LOOK 2005 at Gallery Lambton, Sarnia.  "A Little Girl's Dream" was juried into Paint Ontario in 2006.  "Three Buddies" and "Remembering the Farm" was juried into Paint Ontario in 2008 and "My Back Yard" was juried in Paint Ontario in 2009.   She appeared with members of Six Plus One Art Group in Grace Bros. Gallery in Sarnia in 2008.  Held a show with Diane Nelles at Victoria Hall in Petrolia in 2009 and will be appearing in May of 2010 with Six Plus One Art Group at The Lawrence House in Sarnia.  "My Little Girl" won the Floyd Gibson Colours Show Award at the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts in Sarnia (2011).
